Guest reviews & verified fee notes for Golden Nugget Las Vegas

We had a great experience at Golden Nugget last year, so we decided to return this year with our toddler son. Unfortunately, this visit was very different from our previous experience. We had problems right from the check-in process. There was only one staff member assisting guests at the kiosks, and she appeared to be busy on her tablet while several of us were waiting for assistance. The biggest disappointment was the pool. When we arrived, we noticed the Tank was closed. We were never informed about this before our stay, and we did not see any warning about the closure on the property nor on the hotel's website. Latet, we were informed by one of the life guard that the Tank would be under maintenance for rest of year. Our son was extremely disappointed because he had such a great time at the pool during our stay last year. The pool experience was one of the main reasons we chose to return to Golden Nugget. After returning to our room, we discovered that the shower had extremely low water pressure, and there were black stains on the bathtub. Our room also faced Fremont Street, which made it very difficult for our toddler to sleep because of the noise. Because of all these issues, we requested a room change. We were told the hotel was fully booked and that the only way to change rooms would be to downgrade our room. We decided to stay in the room and try to make the best of the situation. Unfortunately, that night was extremely difficult. We had loud music coming from Fremont Street as well as noise from a party room next door. The noise continued until after 3:00 AM, making it very difficult for our toddler and our family to sleep. We chose Golden Nugget again because we had such a positive experience last year. This time, however, the lack of communication about the pool closure, the condition of the room, and the excessive noise made our stay very disappointing. We hope the hotel takes these issues seriously, especially when families are choosing to return based on a previous positive experience.
I was initially hesitant to book due to high anxiety regarding cleanliness/bugs as this is just a general anxiety for me… And I’m glad to report that Golden Nugget exceeded my expectations! We stayed Tuesday, checking out Saturday morning. Checked in early with JP, who was friendly, and accommodated us in a room away from Fremont Street, which I had meant to ask for and forgot so I appreciate his initiative on that. Vicente was friendly and talkative as he checked our bags and upon pick up. We stayed in the Rush Tower, 11th floor. Throughout our visit, I noticed a standard of cleanliness and felt like I was always running into an employee cleaning, the carpets, the mirrors, etc. this gave me tremendous peace of mind. I did notice a strong smell on our floor, guest on different floors said they smelled something too, thankfully it didn’t really linger into the room aside from a brief moment. I did reach out via the text line about the smell and didn’t get a response. After a day the smell reminded me of carpet just replaced, it was probably nothing. Our room was clean, the bathtub clean enough that I took 3 baths while there! The bed and pillows very comfortable. I felt very comfortable in our hotel room, which when you have high anxiety about cleanliness and bugs, this peace of mind was incredible. Especially when I ended up staying in the room all day, a couple of days. On Friday night they held a night swim, and that music we could hear, it was LOUD, but it did end at 10pm when the pool closed. Which was a huge relief. Other than that our room was quiet aside from minor noises from the plumbing. Friday night 5 different police interactions were witnessed, a drunk almost naked man, laid out in a casino entrance and then just other seemingly minor disturbances, but the point is, they were being quickly addressed by PD. Housekeeping was very friendly and prompt with requests. And one day we arrived back to see the bed made and trash emptied which surprised me because when reading reviews it didn’t seem that they cleaned unless requested. So a nice unexpected surprise. I’m so thankful I made the trip to see first hand that this location has it together, offering clean, comfortable, rooms and friendly service. Aside from the smell concern not being addressed, I do want to give a shout out to the text team, that responds quickly and gets you prompt service/answers 99% of the time. You also made our stay more convenient and easy. I would return.
The room was ok. Location we love But the ROOM SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE!!! We requested multiple times electronically and personally to multiple people for our room to be cleaned but everytime we come back to the room, IT'S STILL A MESS!!!! We booked and paid for 5 nights and 6 days BTW!!! We had to ask for the towel sets everyday!!! UGH!!! So inconvenient and totally uncalled for!!! ALSO, The king size bed we upgraded to and paid for an additional $130/nt plus taxes and resort fees is actually just a queen bed! I knew from the moment I saw it but it wasn't worth the trip back to the check in counter bcuz there's always a long line with only a few hotel personnel manning it. In confirmation and evidence to this claim, I saw the QUEEN label on The comforter they gave us to replace the one they had on the bed because it had a nasty black stain that we could not tell what it was. AND You would think they would change the comforter themselves, Right? But NO! They didn't!!! They just delivered the new comforter in a clear plastic bag(with the computer generated QUEEN label on it) AND PLACED IT ON THE TABLE BY THE DOOR!!!! We had to change the comforters ourselves eventhough we were already TIRED AND SLEEPY FROM being out all day!!! So UNACCEPTABLE & RIDICULOUS!!! We got the room by the freemont Street so the music was on and loud until 3am (which we didn't mind). You can muffle this loud sound with the TV on but if you need total quiet then just be aware that you have a really really very low chance of getting the quietness and peacefulness you are wanting for unless you specifically request for it upon booking, which still is no guarantee. If you're ok and is able to sleep with ear plugs then you're lucky bcuz this hotel provides it for free. The only good thing for us is the location. We love that you can enjoy a lot as soon as you step out of this hotel.
The hotel itself is nice enough, I would recommend it if you prefer staying in downtown Vegas. The rooms are large, the bed is comfortable-- our bathtub in particular needs to be reglazed, but that isn't a big deal. My biggest disappointment is the 21+ pool area-- it is a complete ripoff for $40 extra per person. It offers a tiny infinity pool that gets overcrowded within minutes and there is zero shade unless you purchase the more expensive option of the loungers (still not worth it). The pool check-in process is also a pain. The hotel itself is nice, I wouldn't recommend paying anything extra at all for the pool.
The Golden Nugget, one of the few infamous hotels that Hawaii locals venture. It's cheap in prices depending on the daily rates (as rates do fluctuate daily.) But the room we had was nice and I wouldn't mind coming here. Now... to me, some people are okay with bringing their kids here, but as a forewarning, the Golden Nugget as it is connected to its casino floor on the bottom, which the casino is conveniently placed there for easy access to enjoy yourself. It is however heavy with the smell of cigarettes as much as the air filtration system for the hotel works as it does. Personally, I don't mind it as much, seeing as how I was staying with friends for a concert we were attending. But I question bringing kids here... 🤔 It's debatable. But it is what it is. But, regardless. For it being my second time in vegas... I got to enjoy myself a little more this time around as the Golden Nugget is in a convenient spot for most tourists to get food and to get souvenirs and just plainly gamble. 🎲 🎲 🎲 🎲
